Dissertation

- I examine the influence of natural disasters on climate change mitigation strategies. Building on the attention-based view and the behavioral theory of the firm, I explain exposure to climate change-related natural disasters can initiate the awareness of climate change issues, problematizing the current situation, and implementing climate change mitigation by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Using panel data from large U.S. companies, I am testing the negative relationship between exposure to natural disasters and changes in greenhouse gas emissions.
